PHOENIX CON MEGA POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Phoenix con is by far my favorite show of the year! Mainly because I get to crush it with all my az homies, but also because it's mainly a superhero con and we don't have much competition with the stuff we're selling. We both do pretty well! After walking around and seeing everyones perfect mainstream lines, it's refreshing for people to walk by our booth and see some wobble. We were SWAMPED with little $3 watercolor commissions, and definitely made 50+ of them between the both of us (Casey made a couple too!). We were too busy to take pics of all of them, But here are a few:

If you got one from us it would be awesome if you sent me a pic! Other highlights of the con include: drawing on a girls dress, meeting Boomer and 6 from Battlestar, Max Brook signing my copy of world war z, aaaaaaaaaand debuting me and Jon's new book THE BURNING! We sold a ton of them (around 70!) because they're rad, and also only $1! I'll put it up for sale on here soon.

Anyways, I wish PHX con could last forever. Until next year!

Smudge and MSL deck

The smudge isn't that bad in real life, but it won't come off:

So I painted another skateboard yesterday, here it is:

I was asked to make it for a skateboard mag called Concrete Wave, who have a booth that travels with the Vans Warped Tour that will be displaying the boards they get. I think they asked around 20 artists (or maybe they had 20 charities, and they asked a ton of artists...) to participate, who choose a charity to make the deck for. The board will eventually be sold and all the money goes to the charity. I chose Music Saves Lives as mine. They focus on blood donation, and are repped by a bunch of new pop-punky-screamy-bangs-in-the-face bands I've never heard of, but none of the other artists chose them, and they also have a big booth at the Warped Tour, so I thought it was a good idea. I think the skateboard mag will put it in one of the summer issues, so that would be cool! Anyways, here are some process and detail shots:

I'm not super pumped on how this came out, but I think that violin is cool. I wonder if I'll ever be good at drawing wings?

So if you're going to the Warped tour... Check it out?

The first and last comic about someone who's trying to get into a comic. I'm glad it was Roberto though, I love that guy! He's a writer, I wish I could link to his stuff.

Blogger is back!

I'm just going to embed this video instead of linking it so you guys HAVE to watch it:

My friend GERALD made that, and I can't wait for more! did you see that awesome sticker shout out he gave me? the whole thing is just so well done, you're the man Gerald.

And check this out, I'm on the ABSTRACT COMICS blog! Me and Samantha argued whether or not that comic is even abstract, I don't really think so because I was just drawing actual tissues, but she made a pretty good point on why it is. Anyways, thanks a million to MATT for letting them know!

Also you can buy this shirt I helped design for the A Big City Died blog!

Happy Moms day / Lobo

Free comic book day was super awesome! Thanks a million to Time Warp comics in Boulder for letting me come and for putting on an awesome event. I sold a surprising amount of comics and got rid of all the Dog Craps I was giving away (although I have a few funny stories about moms and superhero guys picking it up because it's free, and then seeing what it is and putting it down, haha), and also got to hang with all my good comics friends! And check this awesome Kevin Caron sketch of Lobo I got!

Also I have never heard of Lobo before yesterday.

free comic day?

Well I'm posting tonight instead of tomorrow morning because I'll be in Boulder for free comic book day! I'll be at TIME WARP, a really awesome comic shop, so if you're in Boulder and wanna say hi, do it! I wonder if anyone in Boulder even reads my comics. Anyways, have a good free comic book day! I know Topshelf is putting together a free kid-freindly comic, so if anything, go to a comic shop and pick that up, they're always awesome. ESPECIALLY if you're in Columbia, there will be a guy at Heroes and Dragons repping Topshelf really hard. Check it out!
