Sorry I've been lazy and haven't posted in a few days, but my AZ buddy casey and his GF Ashley was here! I'm sad to see them go, but at least i'll have these comics to remember our times together:

Love those guys!

Girl Talk/Netflix

Man, i haven't missed a comic in like 4 months! oh well.

Check out my new Denver comic friend Lonnie Allen's comics at DELINEATE. I really love them, he tells the PERFECT amount of information in his 2-panel format, and the coloring and style is really unique too.

bike fixer and NO WAY JOSE!

I've already sort of posted about it, but a few months ago I did a bunch of illustrations for local Columbia band, NO WAY JOSE!, and I just got the record in the mail a few days ago! It's a full 12" record that comes with a full sized coloring and activity book!

Thanks to JORDAN, AARON, CHRIS, and THOMAS for letting me be a part of such a rad project! They only printed 100 (they are all hand numbered), so there are only a few left available. ORDER ONE HERE and if not, at least listen to some tracks HERE. Oh, and be sure to look at some colored pages from the coloring book on DANA'S or MIKE JONES' blogs! If anyone wants me to post the uncolored versions of the pages so you can print them out and color them, let me know.

Denver Comicfest!

Comicfest was really awesome yesterday! It was really cool seeing mary and her buddies, and i traded mini-comics with probably about 80% of the people that were there. It's kinda cool having such a small comic show, you get to talk to everyone. And the best part was meeting Charlito from Indie Spinner Rack, and the small interview he gave me! I started listening to ISR way before I started making comics, so it's pretty crazy i'm going to be on it! Everyone at the fest was super nice, and I can't wait to go back today.

This is a good example of how not to make daily comics. I just wanted to make a comic about samantha's new macbook, but there was really nothing interesting about it. I was going to make some stupid punchline about how snow leopard took a long time to install, but, come on, that's stupid. snow leopard came out last year.

Xboxalypse and butter!

Yep, it was a sad night for halo 2 players everywhere.

I made that comic early and then something else happened the I just had to make a comic about:

Haha, it's seriously JUST melted butter. Also, if you order the book I illustrated on, Ron, the author gave out a 10% off code when checking out. the code is SHOWERS, and you can get your copy HERE.

People Under the Stairs are soooo cool. It makes me want to live in LA or something! or at least be from a place that has a cool sports team logo so I can buy a cool hat, haha. Last night I saw Major Lazer / Rusko... more on that tomorrow.

Coffee and Coloring!

I read this comic this morning and rolled my eyes, that sounds like a seinfeld joke or something, haha.

In other news, I illustrated an album and coloring book for a Cola, SC band NO WAY JOSE! in February and it was just released a week ago or so! They only made 100 copies, so they might be sold out already. I was going to wait until they sent me my copy to post about it, but people are coloring the coloring book so I have to share! My buddies DANA and MIKE JONES posted about their coloring experience HERE and HERE so that's where you can check out the illustrations! I'll have a full post about the project when i see it in person!

And I saw PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS last night, but I think that's what I'm going to make my comic about today so I guess I'll talk about it later. It was sick though!

Haha, I feel bad making fun of Samantha's Aunt Lyn, but she says some funny stuff! But seriously, she's the best! And if you haven't seen Up in the Air yet, it's really really good.

Lyn is visiting

And check it out! I was mentioned in an article in a local paper! It's an article about local cartoonists, READ IT HERE!

If you don't want to read the whole thing (it's pretty long) then here's the paragraph about me talking about John P.:

"There's this kid named Sam Spina, a really fantastic cartoonist, who just moved here from South Carolina," says Stafford. "When Sam came into Kilgore the first time, he looked really tired and unhappy. He said, 'I see you guys sell comics. Do you carry local stuff?' I was like, 'Yeah, definitely.' And he said, 'Really?' As it turns out, he'd gone to all the bookstores and comic shops in town to try to sell his mini-comics, but no one would take them. Sam was saying exasperatedly, 'But John Porcellino lives here! How can it not be the greatest comics town on earth?' The fact that John lived out here was one of the reasons Denver seemed like a cool place to him."

I just finished a project I've been working on FOREVER! I was contacted months ago by RON BAXLEY, a sci-fi author from South Carolina, to illustrate his second book in his Greenmyn Moons in the Wormhole Pocket series. It's called The Monarchy Prey for Mantus, and it's now available for purchase on I did a full-color full-page illustration for every chapter, designed the cover and layed-out the whole book. Here's the front and back cover and a few sample illustrations:

Ron is doing some promotional deals exclusively for Spinadoodles readers if you buy the book directly from him! For $26 bucks (that's including shipping) he'll also send you a little 4 pack of insect-related toys, and you can buy both his first book called Extra! Extra-terrestrial and Mantus for $44 (that includes shipping), which is saving you something like $10 if you bought both separately. Contact Ron at: if you would like to take advantage of those offers. Making the book was a lot of work for both of us and it would be awesome if you bought one! DO IT HERE!!!

IN OTHER NEWS; I just got my new business cards in the mail today! What the hey am I going to do with 5000 of them?

That's so many, there's no way I'm going to use them all, but they were only $50 from GOTPRINT.COM! They're having a sale right now for 5000 business cards for $38.55 (mine were a little more expensive because i got them printed on recycled paper), so you should totally get some. The printing quality is AWESOME! Here's some details of what they look like:

Next I think I'm going to print some stickers from them...

After I made this comic i looked at that Rusko show and saw he's opening for major lazer, so i guess that's pretty cool. I'm not too into major lazer, but Eric Wareheim makes some of there music videos, so i feel like I should like them.
