Wow, that was almost my exact thought process this weekend at SPX! I did the fake texting thing a couple times, haha. There were a lot of people I knew of, but they didn't know me, and I wanted to talk to them but I was too afraid to just go right up to them. Eventually, when I saw some of these people talking to a few people, I kind of blended in with the others and started talking. By the end of the night, I had a couple of pretty in-depth, one-on-one conversations with Jeffrey Brown and James Kochalka. I'm still really awkward though. I haven't the slightest idea how to approach people or how to start a conversation. At least when the other person is someone I admire.

ahh man i feel you i was like that when i went to gangplank the other day, i didnt know where to sit and was too scared to ask anyone where i should go so i stood there for like a good 10mins looking like a super noob
